Not very often in gaming does someone come along with a title as refreshing as SKATE was last year. Well EA is back with the second installment with SKATE 2. This is a brief review of the new game and we hope you enjoy it!

Graphics - This game has some great graphics, its not the most realistic game we have ever seen but it does a good enough job to keep you looking at all the small details. Everything from the character clothes all the way to the ramps and decks themselves are very close to believable detail!
One of the great things about SKATE and SKATE 2 is the open feel it brings, you basically have this huge town you can skate through. I didn’t time it myself but id wager it would take a good 45 minutes or more to skate from one corner to the other if you never stopped to find a line to skate.
With this much room in one game I found myself lost for hours and hours just exploring to see what sort of sick lines and combos I could come up with.
On the down-side for the graphics the vehicles that you see driving around and the pedestrians that seem to get in your way right at the wrong time are all jagged and look really bad if your using a HDTV like I am. I just had jagged edges on games don’t you? But with that said overall this games graphics are more then pleasing to the eyes!

Game play- SKATE 2 brings back the awesome flick stick controls that SKATE brought us last year. The controls put you in complete 100% control of the characters positions and of course the board and feet of your character which allows you to pull off life-like kick flips and the awesome pop-shuv it.
There is nothing like finding a nice stair-case to pull some sweet tricks off of but in my opinion these are far and few between much like the first SKATE was. However EA this year has introduced moveable envoirnment objects and we can now construct in real-time gameplay our own lines and obstacles to try and skate.
Its way better then the standard editors that come with games like this and it gives you more of a down to earth friendly feel to the game, whether your lining up garbage cans or stringing together ramps and rails to pull of a sick line SKATE 2 has tons to offer!

Sound - The sound in SKATE 2 is just as good as the first, the life-like kick flip sounds really seal the deal when your skating around and finding the perfect hot-spot to hit hard! Just watch out for those mad mall cops, they are not to friendly this time around!
The best part sound-wise for this game is the truly awesome bone crushing sounds when you bail or hit the pavement hard, it sounds so gruesome you can actually feel it in your soul. I have only experienced that in one other game before and that was Gears Of War for the xbox 360. Its nice to see that EA can live up to the hype of a game and deliver a great experience the second time around a title!
Overall Score 7.5/10
