system software
Can I use an operating system software for several computers?

I am planning to buy a Vista Ultimate Software, and i am planning to share the software with my 5 cousins who have also laptops. Is it possible to use one cd software for 5 computers??? or the software have limited number of possible or required computers to be installed.

Windows Vista is licensed for one computer installation only.
In order to activate your additional installation on additional computers,
you’ll need to purchase a second Windows Vista Ultimate license.

If you attempt to activate it on another computer, it will most likely fail. Actually, it will fail barring some spectacular failure of MS’s activation system.

Hacks, cracks and misbegotten serial numbers, all have some risks such as:

Introducing maleware, (virus, backdoors and email bots), into your system.
Potential for system instability.
Potential for failing the Windows Genuine Software test, barring you from system updates.
A dead system if the hack, crack or serial number is addressed by Microsoft in a patch.

Microsoft really wants to be paid. They are really adamant about it.

You could burn 5 Ubuntu CD’s and give those to your penny pinching cousins. It does everything windows does in generally, with the exception of gaming. It struggles as a gaming platform.
