How to turn a keyboard into a synthesizer?
I have a pretty standard Casio keyboard….I was wondering if there are any good synthesizer controllers or anything like that that one would recommend getting. I’d like to be able to hook it up to the keyboard so that i could get some true synth tones out of it (and I am aware that you can do this by hooking the keyboard up to the computer and using virtual synthesizer software),
1) Does your keyboard have MIDI?
2) Is it’s keyboard velocity sensative and/or have aftertouch?
3) Does it have pitch bend and/or modulation?
If it does not have MIDI…you cannot connect it to anything. If it does have MIDI, you can connect it to another sound source, but its degree of usefulness as a controller will depend on its implementation. If Q’s 1-3 are all “yes”, then there are plenty of Software Packages out there for your computer…as well as hundreds of choices of stand-alone synths and sound modules to choose from…depending on what type of synthesis you are interested in.
Good luck!
